Cyber SOTU Festival 19.04.20

Although our beloved Sounds of the Underground Festival hosted at various cultural vrijhavens around the city cannot go on as planned due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we are happy to announce that Cyber SOTU Festival will live stream in its place. We hope you will tune in for eclectic sounds from Amsterdam’s thriving underground scene and bounce around your rooms in solitude but not alone. Sunday’s show will include the debut of Poetic Synthonautics from Deconstructions, a Rough Night Press/Unknown Electronics collaboration that was not yet meant to be.

Streaming show is 14h-20h (links at bottom of post)

Poetic Synthonautics

Live Streaming from approx. 16:30-17:15

Poetic Synthonautics is a collaborative project of spoken word poetry and live synthesizer soundscapes.  The poetry is asking the listener to see reality without filters or illusion as we guide them through the dark night of the soul and to break free of the societal patterns that have put us on the edge of existence. The experimental electronic soundscapes are produced by a pair of sound designers searching for new-sound expression and provide a dystopian landscape for our (not so) metaphorical battle cry.

Individually, our work is experimental but by collaborating, it becomes revolutionary and this needs to ripple out if we want to be the change we want to see in the world. Artists are here to translate chaos into beauty and push boundaries while creating a collective experience.

Though from different backgrounds, poet (and your Rebel-in-Chief), Win Harms and sound designers, Stefano Messina and Lorenzo Mirra met doing events at Vondelbunker, a cultural free space in Amsterdam run by volunteer activists with a diverse program of music, art, theater, film, and political talks. Even though our beloved DIY spaces are closed, for the time being, we continue to create together and look for new methods to remain an artistic community and share it with you Rough Night pandemic pioneers.
